2023 Toyota GR Supra Gets a Manual Transmission
The Toyota Supra’s chief engineer Tetsuya Tada back in 2022, at the time of Toyota Supra GR, gave a hint of introducing the manual version of the car if the demand for the car remained high. Since this hint was dropped, a lot of speculation surfaced regarding the stick-shift Supra being built. And here we are today, the Toyota’s European division gave a confirmation of Toyota’s European division getting an all-new manual transmission model. The press release comprised of two images; one showed the new red-colored “Supra” badge, which is e quite a distinctive new badging for the stick-shift model. While the second image clearly shows three pedals; if we were not to believe the words. The fact that it will be an “all-new” transmission means that it will not be based on BMW’s Z4 roadster, which shares the Supra platform. Instead, we might be able to get a new Toyota, which is nearly amazing. The Supra is currently available with a turbocharged 2.0-liter I-4 engine producing 255 horsepower or a turbocharged 3.0-liter I-6 engine producing 382-horsepower. According to rumors, the new transmission will only be available on the more powerful (and more expensive) variant. It’s also possible, based on prior executive comments, that the manual GR Supra will be a limited edition since future special versions of the car have been hinted at. However, given the amount of labor that an entirely new transmission (even if borrowed) would entail, we anticipate the option remaining available throughout the Supra’s lifespan. Toyota says the “Toyota GR Supra Manual Transmission has been engineered to offer enthusiasts something closer to the GAZOO Racing DNA that also enhances the driving experience.”Also Read: 2022 New York Auto Show: Must-See Debuts
The tease concludes with the hashtag “Save the Manuals,” implying that additional information will be accessible in a few weeks. Toyota USA previewed the new manual Supra on Twitter, indicating that it will be available in the United States as well.Tags: 2019 Subaru Forester Touring, 2020 BMW iX3, 2020 Chevrolet Suburban, 2020 dodge charger, 2020 EQC, 2020 Ford Super Duty, 2020 Honda Pilot, 2020 Kia Optima, 2020 Mercedes Benz, 2020 Nissan Versa, 2020 Subaru WRX STI, Audi SUV, BMW, Brandon K.
