New NHRA Rules Make Allows 2014-and-Newer Muscle Cars in Drag Racing!
The fan following for the muscle cars is like never before in these recent years; it’s like a golden period through our love for the classic have remained the same! Whether it is the Mopar, Chevy, or Ford, these cars can go around even shockingly speed 9 secs. That requires a whole lot of safety in case of a crash. It is what National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) assures as it makes it required for the vehicle to be equipped with a roll cage or roll bar. But not anymore, as per New NHRA Rules, the car with 2014 onwards models will be allowed or qualified to speed 150 mph in the quarter-mile stretch even without the rolling age or rollbar. The older models did not have safety systems like the current car models, which included airbags. This way, NHRA encourages racing on tracks rather than the street by allowing these cars without facing any disqualification. What’s More For NHRA Rules?
As per the NHRA announcement, this and several other enhancements to the Street Legal program would lead to a wide range of discrete vehicle participation on the tracks. It would also aim to keep pace with the current trends in the high-performance automotive industry. It is what the NHRA is all about; from it was formed in 1951, it has ensured to keep the illegal and life-threatening practice off the racing tracks, which continues even today. As per NHRA, Street Legal events held at NHRA member tracks across North America have been one of the most effective ways to eliminate this illegal street racing on these streets. However, the disqualification surely seems to disrupt this vision. “Updating and improving the Street Legal program couldn’t come at a more crucial time for our industry and sport,’ said Matt DeYoung, Tucson Dragway Track Manager.” As per the track manager, it would change the perception of the automotive manufacturers towards incorporating the safety features that were overlooked before. As NHRA keeps on working to improve Street Legal customers’ experience and sustainability of the program, this surely would be a huge step towards its achievement. They believe this step would attract faster OEM cars to the Street Legal Program rather than the street, and we can’t agree more. Apart from the qualification of the 2024 and newer OEM model-year production cars, the 2008-2013 OEM model-year cars will be permitted to run 135-mph or 10.00 seconds! What are In It for Convertibles and T-Top Cars?
As per the NHRA’s manufacturer’s specifications requirements, the OEM airbag functions, Unaltered OEM installed antilock brakes, OEM stock frame/unibody construction, OEM floors and firewall and other OEM safety-related systems must be functioning. They can be other than OEM for the tires, but DOT-approved is requisite. If your convertible and T-top are quicker than 13.49(8.25) and 11.49 (7.35), respectively, then you are required to meet the Summit Racing Series roll-bar and roll-cage requirements. If the driver wants to go quicker than 10.00 seconds or faster than 135 mph, they should have an NHRA Level 6 license. If your elapse times are above 10.00/6.40, a level 7 competition license is available. Also Read: Kia’s Plan To Launch Two New BEVs Every Year From 2023, Including a Pickup for U.S Market
The New Exclusive Decals
If you are confident enough to break the benchmark of 9’s in a quarter-mile or 5’s in the eighth-mile at an NHRA Member Track and submit to NHRA a license application, then you are likely to receive the exclusive decal. NHRA has made the availability of Street Legal decals for racers who break the benchmarks of 13, 12, 11, and 10-second at the quarter-mile facility and 9, 8, 7, and 6-second benchmarks at the eighth-mile facility. This way, they would recognize the racers’ performance at an NHRA Member Track. As per these recent rule adjustments, owners of Muscle Cars Like Dodge Demon, Shelby GT 500, Corvette ZR-1, Tesla Plaid, or any other high-performance vehicles now can be part of NHRA Street Legal racing events without paying an extra buck in extensive modification. The New NHRA Rules For Street-Legal Cars
However, the cars that are to participate in the Street Legal events are required to all state highway safety requirements for the state for the registered OEM safety features. This way, NHRA wants to ensure only legitimate Muscle Cars Street Legal events. With the open time trials and grudge racing only in the Street Legal events, NHRA is making way for a pleasant experience for the first-time new racers.Tags: 2019 Subaru Forester Touring, 2020 BMW iX3, 2020 Chevrolet Suburban, 2020 dodge charger, 2020 EQC, 2020 Ford Super Duty, 2020 Honda Pilot, 2020 Kia Optima, 2020 Mercedes Benz, 2020 Nissan Versa, 2020 Subaru WRX STI, Audi SUV, BMW, Brandon K.
