2022 Lexus GX 460: Pros and Cons
The Lexus GX 460 SUV has been without a major redesign for quite some time. It is aging elegantly, but it is aging nonetheless. Since the previous significant makeover 12 model years ago, more modern competitors, such as the new Land Rover Defender and upgraded Jeep Grand Cherokee, have rolled into dealerships with more luxury 2022 Lexus gx 460 interior and advanced powertrains. While it remains one of Lexus’ most comfortable and competent vehicles, with the real off-road capability to go with its luxury features, it is beginning to look and feel antiquated in contrast. Although the classic appeal of the 2022 Lexus gx 460 is appealing, most luxury buyers aren’t interested in it. The new Lexus gx 460 black line aesthetic option incorporates blacked-out wheels and trims both inside and out for a more modern look. In comparison to its main competitors, however, this package does nothing to disguise the fact that the GX is an older design. We like four features and don’t like five in the Lexus GX 460 SUV for 2022.Pros
1. Protection Features For 2022, the GX 460 will receive the Lexus Safety System Plus bundle of upgraded safety technology. As standard equipment, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control with automated emergency braking and pedestrian recognition, lane departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, and automatic high beams are now featured. Off-Road Experience 2. Controls from the past The internal controls on the 2022 Lexus GX 460 are archaic, with tactile knobs and switches for practically all tasks. It’s a good thing, too, my friends. To make climate or audio adjustments on the go, there’s no need to dig through submenus or struggle with tiny virtual buttons. Even better, starting in 2022, all Lexus new cars will include a 10.3-inch touchscreen, effectively replacing the terrible console-mounted touchpad controller. 3. Cred With more than 8 inches of ground clearance, a torque-sensing limited-slip differential, a two-speed transfer case, and an electrically locking center differential, the GX 460 is well-equipped for Lexus gx 460 off-road adventures. For serious buyers, an additional Off-Road Package includes a terrain management system, increased underbody protection, an improved video system, and Crawl Control. 4. Cushy Ride 2022 Lexus GX 460’s basic suspension produced a comfortable, absorbing ride for this large body-on-frame Lexus SUV. We never encountered a bump or pothole that the Lexus couldn’t absorb with ease. Adaptive suspension is available on higher trim levels, allowing drivers to fine-tune the ride with Normal, Sport, and Comfort settings.Cons
1. Cargo Space Is Limited Lexus new cars take up a lot of cargo space in addition to having an unusable third row. With the third-row seatback raised, cargo space was only 3.2 cubic feet. When the third row was folded flat, the cargo space rose to 18.5 cubic feet. Although this is an improvement, it is still low for a vehicle of this size. 2. A Classic Powertrain The 5,100-pound GX 460 is powered by a 4.6-liter naturally aspirated V-8 engine with 301 horsepower. Even if the Grand Cherokee and Defender have more power, when mated with a smooth-shifting six-speed automatic transmission, power is sufficient. Unfortunately for Lexus SUV owners, both of these competitors offer comparable or greater fuel efficiency than the Lexus truck. 3. No trailer brake controller integrated The GX 460 comes standard with trailer sway control and is capable of towing up to 6,500 pounds. A factory-installed integrated brake controller, on the other hand, is a must-have when towing that much weight or pulling any trailer with its own brakes. Towing buyers should seek for an aftermarket controller at their local parts store. 4. Tailgate with Side-Hinge Instead of a standard liftgate that swings up for easier access to the cargo space, the 2022 Lexus GX 460 has a side-hinged tailgate that opens like a door. This makes it tough to get in, especially in compact spaces. A flip-up rear window assists while loading large or heavy items, but not as much as a side window. Also Read: First Look Of 2023 BMW 3 Series: A Sportier BMW Sedan
5. Inconspicuous Third Row The GX 460 cockpit is upscale and inviting, with premium materials, real wood surfaces, and excellent vision all around. The Lexus gx 460 pricing appears to be well worth it. Second-row accommodations are nearly as nice, despite a small seat cushion that requires a knees-up seating position. The third row is cramped at best and unsuitable for anything other than the youngest children for long periods of time. The Lexus car’s bench seats made access particularly problematic, but captain’s chairs were provided.FAQs
What’s New With Lexus for 2022?
Lexus, Toyota’s luxury brand, has refreshed its SUV collection for 2022, including new full-size LX and compact NX SUVs. Meanwhile, Lexus is adding a new V-8 performance variant to the IS sport sedan for 2022, while the large LS sedan receives a new hands-free steering option for its hybrid powertrain.
What Will the Lexus LX 600 Bring to Rough Terrain in 2022?
The 2022 Lexus LX 600 will accommodate four to seven passengers, depending on trim level. Standard, Premium, Luxury, Ultra Luxury, and F Sport are the trim levels available; the Ultra Luxury and F Sport are new. The Ultra Luxury will be the sole variant with four seats, while the Standard will have two rows with seating for five people. Three rows of seating will be available in the Premium, Luxury, and F Sport models. The new LX is expected to arrive in the first quarter of 2022, with the price to be disclosed closer to the launch. Which Lexus RX Should You Buy in 2021 or 2022?
The price increases and revisions for 2022 are minor, so unless you are sure to go with a Black Line Special Edition model, seek a bargain on 2021.
