2022 Ferrari 812 GTS-Live a Rapid and Furious Life

2022 Ferrari 812 GTS Review

Apart from limited-edition vehicles like the new Daytona SP3, buying an 812 is the only way to obtain a beautiful V-12 Ferrari 812 GTS engine these days. The 812 will be available in two versions for 2022: GTS and the new Competizione, both powered by a 6.5-litre V-12. 789 Ferrari 812 GTS horsepower and a retractable top that lets you enjoy the V-12’s unearthly howl. The inclusion of the Competizione, which cranks up the power to produce an 819-hp track monster, is the big news for 2022. The V-12 can scream to a redline of 9500 rpm in the Competizione, and owing to a large rear diffuser and revised rear wing, the newest 812 version stays anchored to the road. With multiple vents and air intakes carved into the bodywork and a carbon fibre strip running across the hood, it takes the 812 GTS’ already spectacular long-hood aesthetics to a new level. The Competizione, as expected, makes the 812 even quicker, and it’s also available as a convertible, the Competizione A. The newest 812 heralds the end of an era, with every Ferrari from here on anticipated to be a hybrid car.

Let’s have a look at what is new in 2022

The Superfast model has been dropped from the 812 rosters, while the extreme Competizione model has been added. This track-focused 812 gets a 30-horsepower boost, lighter materials, and improved aerodynamics. Only 500 coupes and 312 Competizione convertibles will be built, and they have all been sold.

Ferrari 812 GTS Performance

The Ferrari 812 GTS is powered by a 789-hp 6.5-litre V-12 engine that sends 530 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automated transmission. Although the GTS does not bear the Superfast moniker, it is nevertheless extremely fast, achieving a peak speed of 211 mph. While we haven’t driven a GTS, we did test a Superfast that touched 60 mph in 2.8 seconds. The GTS should be around a tenth of a second slower than the Superfast to reach 60 mph, owing to the necessary chassis modifications, which make the convertible 265 pounds heavier than the coupe cars.

Ferrari 812 GTS Fuel Economy

According to the EPA, the 2022 Ferrari 812 GTS consumes a lot of gas, averaging 12 mpg in the city and 15 mpg on the interstate. The Lamborghini Huracán, the main competitor with a V-10, performs somewhat better, producing 13 and 18 mpg in certain conditions, respectively. We only got 11 mpg out of the 812 Superfast during our time with it, two points less than its combined figure of 13 mpg; we haven’t had a chance to test a GTS yet. The Competizione actually outperforms the GTS, with a city fuel economy of 12 mpg and a highway fuel economy of 16 mpg.

2022 Ferrari 812 GTS Comfort

The GTS cabin of the 812 has seating for two people, is quite roomy, has decent ergonomics, and is contemporary in style. Ferrari removed the traditional steering-wheel stalks and replaced them with push-button controls for the wipers and turn signals on the spokes, allowing drivers to embrace the 812’s grand-touring essence and keep their hands on the wheel at all times. The coupe outperforms several competitors in terms of cargo capacity, with 18 cubic feet available. However, we can’t say the same for the convertible. The roof-folding technology on the GTS reduces this to only seven cubes. You’ll have to mail the majority of your belongings ahead of time.

2022 Ferrari 812 GTS Connectivity

Even while the 812 coupes and convertibles each come standard with six-speaker audio, there is no need to listen to it because the V-12 engine already provides its own soundtrack. Along with the ability to attach a phone through Bluetooth and stream music, an integrated Ferrari 812 GTS navigation system that supports voice activation is included as standard equipment. Apple CarPlay compatibility is available as an upgrade option for owners, but Android users are out of luck.

Maintenance

The limited and powertrain warranties that are offered by Ferrari are identical to those that are offered by Lamborghini. On the other hand, the manufacturer of Maranello differentiates itself from Lamborghini by providing seven years of regular gratis maintenance. Lamborghini does not do anything similar.
