2022 Kia Carnival – Give a Joyful Time to Your Life
2022 Carnival review
Kia’s minivan has undergone such a transformation that it has been renamed Carnival. The 2022 Carnival replaces the Sedona, and its boxy SUV-like design is no surprise as Kia seeks to capitalize on the success of its critically acclaimed and hot-selling Telluride SUV. The van’s upscale-SUV atmosphere is reminiscent of a Range Rover, thanks to its large wheels crossover-like dimensions, and characteristic daytime running lights that flow into the grille. A 290-hp 3.5-liter V-6 engine with front-wheel drive and an eight-speed automated gearbox powers all Carnival versions. As standard, a number of driver-assistance functions are included, including automatic emergency braking. Optional dual-display configuration with digital instruments and a navigation-equipped center touchscreen improves infotainment technology.
Let’s see what’s new in the 2022 Kia carnival
To help it better compete with minivans like the Chrysler Pacifica, Honda Odyssey, and the newly remodeled Toyota Sienna, the Carnival will be completely revamped for the 2022 model year. This redesign will include improved style, amenities, and technology.
2022 Kia Carnival Engine
The engine that powers the 2022 Carnival is a 3.5-liter V-6 that generates a robust 290 horsepower. An eight-speed automatic transmission is included as standard equipment. The Carnival will only be available in a front-wheel-drive type. Thus regrettably, all-wheel drive will not be an option for buyers to choose from. Although the Chrysler Pacifica has a plug-in hybrid powertrain as an available option, and the Toyota Sienna introduced for 2021 is solely available as a hybrid, we do not anticipate Kia to offer a similar configuration on the Carnival. The Carnival is capable of towing up to 3,500 pounds, according to Kia. When we first got behind the wheel of the Carnival, we found that its ride and handling were perfectly in sync with one another. When traveling at highway speeds, it provided a comfortable ride, and it handled turns with poise.
2022 Carnival Fuel Economy
The EPA estimates that the fuel economy of the 2022 Carnival will be 19 miles per gallon in the city, 26 miles per gallon on the highway, and 22 miles per gallon combined. These values are somewhat better than those of the 2021 Sedona.
Cargo
The Carnival’s dashboard and front-seat area are both more modern and welcoming than the Sedona’s. A wider center console and an optional Mercedes-style dual-screen infotainment system with a digital gauge display are among the design improvements. On the more premium SX-Prestige trim, leather upholstery and reclining second-row seats with pop-up footrests are standard. A panoramic sunroof is an optional feature. According to Kia, the inside space of the new Carnival has been improved, with the wheelbase and total length of the van being increased to provide more room for people and luggage. During our testing, we were able to conceal 14 carry-on bags behind the third row of seats, and a total of 48 with all seats retracted. That’s a lot of cargo space, albeit the Pacifica and Odyssey were also substantially larger.
2022 Carnival’s Connectivity
The 2022 Carnival will include significant advancements in both interior technology and infotainment systems. Dual 12.3-inch displays that stretch across two-thirds of the van’s dashboard are optional, with one serving as a digital gauge display and the other performing infotainment duties. While a single infotainment screen measuring 8.0 inches is standard, dual displays measuring 12.3 inches that stretch across the entire dashboard are optional. Both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are included as standard. The cabins on the Carnival include up to nine USB ports each. The SX trim level and above come standard with a rear-seat entertainment system. However, the SX-Prestige trim level is the only one that can be equipped with a Bose radio with 12 speakers.
Safety Features of 2022 Carnival
This time around, Kia is offering a significant increase in the number of standard driver-assistance features. Some of these features include lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlamps, and blind-spot monitoring. All of these features will help the Kia Carnival compete with the Chrysler Pacifica, Honda Odyssey, and Toyota Sienna.
The following are possible examples of essential safety features:
- Automatic emergency braking is a standard feature, with pedestrian detection
- lane-keeping assist and lane-departure warning systems come as standard
- Adaptive cruise control is an option
2022 Carnival Warranty
Kia’s warranty is superior to those of its competitors since it covers the powertrain for a period of 10 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. However, in contrast to the Sienna, the Carnival does not include any complimentary planned maintenance in the purchase price.
- The limited warranty lasts for five years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first
- The powertrain is covered under warranty for ten years or one hundred thousand kilometers
- There is no free regularly scheduled maintenance
