2023 Kia Telluride-Start your Goals off on the Right Ankle

2023 Kia Telluride Review

As soon as the three-row Telluride was unveiled for 2020, it swiftly rose to the top of Kia’s bestseller list. Since it was named our 2020 SUV of the Year, its popularity has only increased, and for 2023, the vehicle gets a big makeover. The SUV should become more appealing thanks to new tough grade levels, additional technology, and updated appearance on the inside and outside.

The biggest SUV offered by the Korean carmaker is the 2023 Kia Telluride. The Subaru Ascent, Toyota Highlander, and Nissan Pathfinder are some of its rivals.

What we consider

We’ve only come to love the big Kia after a year with the Telluride. The winner of the 2020 SUV of the Year award still has the luxury feel throughout and offers high standards of quality, style, amenities, technology, and refinement without charging a premium price. Prior to the update, the Telluride defeated the Toyota Highlander and Jeep Grand Cherokee L in a three-way comparison because of its excellent features for the money, stylish design, and innovative use of space.

Even though largest Kia’s spacious cabin, it doesn’t seem or operate as a boat from the outside. Kia has devoted tremendous attention to detail, both inside and out, and its external style is at once attractive, rough, and athletic looking. Both short and long trips are enjoyable in the Telluride, whether you’re in the driver’s seat in control of this three-row vehicle that handles like a compact SUV or in a passenger seat taking pleasure in its comfortable ride. It’s simple to understand why the three-row is so alluring, even though Telluride’s V-6 engine could use more low-end torque and greater fuel efficiency.

Kia Telluride Fuel Economy

The Telluride’s 3.8-litre naturally aspirated V-6 engine and eight-speed automatic transmission are both returning for 2023, both still rated at 291 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. Both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive are options.

Estimates for fuel efficiency for the 2023 model are anticipated to be comparable because the powertrain from last year will be used again. 20/26 mpg city/highway are the projected ratings for the 2022 Telluride FWD, while 19/24 mpg are predicted for the 2022 Telluride AWD. These ratings are comparable to those of V-6 rivals such as the 2022 Toyota Highlander and 2022 Honda Pilot.

Two-wheeling it in Telluride

Two off-road trim options are available for the 2023 Telluride to compete with SUVs like the Subaru Wilderness and Honda TrailSport. Both have enhanced capabilities in addition to the usual AWD.

The Telluride X-Line deviates from previous X-Line variants for the Soul and Sorento in that it offers more than simply a cosmetic upgrade. Approach and departure angles have improved as a consequence of an increase in ground clearance from 0.4 inches to 8.4 inches. A better tow mode is available for trailering thanks to a new gearbox tune and sway control, and the Telluride’s traction control system has been improved.

The exterior X-Line kit comes with 20-inch wheels, body-coloured door handles roof rails that resemble bridges, unique emblems, and a radiator grille designed specifically for the trim. This model stands out from the competition inside thanks to distinctive colour packages and X-Line embossing on the front seats. The Nightfall Edition is replaced in the lineup by the 2023 Telluride X-Line.

The Telluride X-Pro model from 2023 advances the X-Line design. It comes with 18-inch wheels (instead of the X-20-inch Line’s wheels) covered in Continental all-terrain rubber, and it can tow up to an additional 500 pounds, for a total of 5,500 pounds. The Telluride X-Pro adds a 110-volt plug in the cargo compartment and switches out the X-Line emblems and embossing for X-Pro branding.

Safety

The 2023 Telluride’s active safety systems have received two new updates. Depending on the system settings, the included Intelligent Speed Limit Assist feature of the SUV’s traffic sign recognition system can notify the driver of stated speed limits and limit the vehicle’s speed. When turning left at an intersection, Standard Forward Collision Avoidance scans for approaching vehicles and applies the brakes to stop the car if a collision seems imminent. This feature is an extension of the vehicle’s forward automatic emergency braking system. The technologies are added to Telluride’s other standard driver assistance features, which also include parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic monitoring.

Warranty

With the finest overall coverage and the oldest powertrain warranty in the industry, Kia offers some of the best overall protection available. It does not, however, provide the free planned maintenance than comparable vehicles like the Toyota Highlander and the Chevy Traverse do.

Frequently asked question

Does the Telluride have engine problems?

The 2021 Kia Telluride is marketed as a family vehicle with high-end amenities and style. There is “no holding back,” according to the carmaker when operating this SUV. Customers, however, most concur that it has a flawed electrical system, a flawed drivetrain, and poor sight.

What is different about the 2022 Kia Telluride?

For 2022, Kia will upgrade Telluride’s list of standard equipment to include a 10.25-inch touch screen, dual-zone automatic temperature control, and highway driving assistance. Standard wireless device charging is also included in the Telluride S trim.

Is Kia Telluride noisy?

It was rated as one of the quietest SUVs of any size by U.S. News. It was also rated the quietest SUV for 2020 by Consumer Reports. SUVs tend to produce more wind noise than cars because of their boxy design and higher position above the ground. There is the very little road or wind noise coming from Telluride’s engine.
