How Is GM Planning to Become EV Leader by 2025?

Tesla is getting curious! Well, that was a little exaggeration, but GM and its plans to ace the EV universe are catching substantial attention. Why not when their website has given a commitment to 30 new global GM Electric Vehicles by 2025! It targets to stop selling diesel engines or gasoline-powered vehicles by 2035. They are rushing their plans to achieve their dream of an all-electric future. We can’t keep calm as we want you to know about their big plan! They see at least a million EVs rolling down the road to not only make a substantial impact but also to escalate rapidly towards a zero-emissions future. As per the recent conversation with CBS, CEO of General Motors Mary Barra said, “We want to lead in EVs, full stop.” The substantial investment of $7 billion in EV production in Michigan is mere evidence of it. Further, Gm has committed to spending $35 billion to achieve it. It seems like they have crafted their master for a long time now as they are all ready with the numbers and strong belief to achieve it. Evidence of this is the EV portfolio and expected introduction of 20 EVs by 2023. Let us take a sneak peek at their Electrical Automobiles portfolio without further ado.

Cadillac

Cadillac Celestiq

This Cadillac’s new flagship is a four-passenger executive sedan with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon computing system powering its tech. The illuminated grille and four-door-coupe silhouette would steal your heart. With large batteries, a range of up to 300 miles won’t be an issue. It would be equipped with GM’s advanced Ultra Cruise system giving it a touch of an autonomous luxury car. All of this and much more at $200,000.

Cadillac Lyriq

This midsize five-passenger SUV is the Cadillac’s first EV. Its base is $59,990. This car will offer a 340-hp, 325-lb-ft rear-motor powertrain with 300 miles of range to start. You can expect a dual-motor version in 2023. It also comes with a dazzling choreographed startup lighting sequence of the black crystal grille and lights. A key spotlight stealer of interiors would be premium material and a 33-inch curved LED screen with floating illusions.

Cadillac Escalade EV

Its three-row Escalade luxury SUV is expected to make its arrival in early 2024. Unlike the rest of Cadillac’s coming SUV-bodied EVs, it will have its name when Escalade goes electric. Meanwhile, its last combustion engine hurrah will be hitting dealerships for the time being.
 

Cadillac Sedan/Coupe

Whether or not it would replace the CT4 and CT5 sedans, Cadillac has at least one sedan replacement.

Cadillac Optiq And Symboliq SUVs

In addition to the above SUVs, it plans to produce many more SUVs, among which Optiq and Symboliq are the first of them. As per the forecasts, Optiq will be the all-electric replacement of compact XT4 SUV, whereas Symboliq three-row SUV.

Cadillac Autonomous Vehicle

Yes, we are talking about it being the first fully autonomous vehicle. It will be a two-passenger car.

GMC

GMC Hummer EV

it’s a 1,000-hp electric super truck that too convertible by removing its roof panels. It has a three-motor 4WD system with a considerable pickup. The 24-module battery pack enables it to achieve a range of up to 329 miles. It offers has Super Cruise for hands-free highway driving. The Top trim Edition 1 price is $112,595, whereas lower trim levels are expected to be $79,994.

GMC Hummer SUV

This three motor SUV will provide Hummer pickup, removable roof, 830 hp, and range up to 300 miles or more. With the production assumption of 2023, the prices would range from the $105,595 Edition 1 to the $79,995 EV2. You can pick an Extreme Off-Road package for $5,000.

GMC Sierra EV

No worries if you can’t afford Hummer, GMC Sierra EV will be your affordable option. Apart from its availability in top Denali trim, the front grille with light show remains the same.

Chevrolet

Chevrolet Silverado EV

Here we have it, a Work Truck followed by a fully loaded RST, bringing back the feel of Chevy’s Avalanche truck featuring midgate. The unveiled prices are $41,500 and $106,500. Thus trucks make a range of 400 miles a reality.

Chevrolet Equinox EV

This would be a game-changer all-electric SUV that comes at a $30,000 price. Enhanced aesthetic than the existing Equinox visuals would steal the show. It is expected to have at least two trim levels.

Chevrolet Blazer EV

A perfect blend of the current Blazer’s sporty and muscular Camaro-influenced two-tone styling, this EV is due in spring 2023. The starting price is estimated to be $35,000 and is expected to be affordable.

Chevrolet Bolt/Bolt EUV/Trailblazer EV

Bolt, Bolt EUV, and Trailblazer EV subcompacts would replace a single new crossover. This way, it could not abandon the entry-level SUV segment with the migration to the Ultium platform.

Buick

Buick Electra

Their expectation is to start with two SUVs that would be slightly smaller than the Cadillac and Chevy midsize crossovers. Though the, it would have the same wheelbase but with the discrete intention for customers. These slightly smaller SUVs seem to offer more cargo room for families.

BrightDrop And Cruise

BrightDrop EV410, EV600, EV1000

Who knew FedEx and Walmart would be instrumental in letting the electric delivery van hit the road. This medium-sized is already in production. There is also a plan for making a larger 1,000-cubic-foot van.

Cruise Origin

This six-passenger autonomous rideshare vehicle is by cruise; GM bought it in 2016. This robotaxi would change the face of how we look at taxis today.
