Maserati MC20 Cielo- Window that takes you to the future

As Maserati’s new open-top Cielo makes its Modena debut, the company’s MC20 supercar is ready to expand into a whole line of supercars. The new open-top Cielo Maserati promises to combine the MC20’s distinctive driving experience with some wind in your hair action, joining the superb mid-engined coupe.

From the beginning of its development, the MC20 Cielo was developed with the coupe in mind, ensuring that its performance and dynamic capabilities were not compromised in any way. Due to the MC20’s carbon-fiber tub chassis (made by none other than Dallara), its structural rigidity is less affected than if it were constructed from an aluminum spaceframe, as rivals like the Ferrari 296 GTB still do.

Maserati MC20 Cielo review

The Cielo’s carbon fiber, which stiffens crucial sections around the windscreen base, has a different layering and structure than that of the other MC20, therefore there are some structural variances between the Cielo and the other MC20. Despite the presence of an automatic folding roof system, the overall impact is an incredibly low variance in weight, with the convertible just weighing 65 kg more than the coupe. This is the case despite the inclusion of a retractable hardtop.

When an electric current is run through the electrochromic composite glass that makes up the roof, it is possible to change from having a clear appearance to having a frosted one. This occurs when the glass’s interior layer is struck by the electrical current. Together with the rear glass that is placed vertically and has the ability to be independently raised and lowered in only 12 seconds, this allows the cabin to be exposed to the elements while simultaneously imparting a totally different aesthetic to the exterior of the vehicle.

A vehicle that is extremely aerodynamically efficient

What does car Maserati have to say about their MC20 Cielo model? “The MC20 Cielo strives for excellence in every aspect of its design. The painstaking and exact work that was done during the stages of the car’s design made it possible for it to weigh only 65 kg more than the coupe. In addition to its exceptional weight-to-power ratio, the carbon fibre chassis (which will be the same for all three configurations to come: the coupe, the spyder, and the future electric version) also guarantees uncompromising torsional rigidity, providing a combination of extraordinary handling both on the road and on the track “according to the press release.

“The new spyder is a beautiful yet dynamic vehicle. Because of the purity of its shapes and the refined aerodynamics subjected to 360° testing in a wind tunnel, whether the roof is open or closed, its character and personality are truly eye-catching.”

A new roof with a well-thought-out plan

The new roof does not alter the butterfly doors that separate the leather-drenched two-seat cockpit from the rest of the world. The dual-clutch eight-speed gearbox’s paddle shifters are within easy reach in this cockpit. Finally, the doors are designed to enhance the car’s ergonomics and provide the best possible access to and from the vehicle’s cockpit. There’s no denying that the engineers at the new Maserati put a lot of effort into this vehicle.

The car’s engine is the final component. In an earlier press release, the company identified Nettuno as “the first engine in this new chapter of the Trident’s history.” The Nettuno is the “MC20’s twin turbo V6, a technological treasure previously granted an international patent, which brings MC20 Maserati Twin Combustion (MTC) technology, a ground-breaking combustion system developed in-house, to the world’s highways.”

Engine That MC20 Car have

To keep costs down, Maserati hasn’t made many changes to the Cielo’s engine, which is still the Nettuno 3-litre V6 with pre-chamber combustion technology. The coupe’s 626bhp and 729Nm of torque between 3000 and 5500 rpm are identical to the sedan’s statistics. When it comes to transmission, there is an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox, as well as the same adaptive dampers and double-wishbone suspension as well as an electronically-controlled limited-slip differential. The Cielo’s 65-kilogram weight boost from the coupe’s 1475-kilogram weight will put it at 1540-kilograms, making it far lighter than cars like the Lamborghini Huracan Spyder.

In addition to the minor MY23 update, the Coupe will get additional parking assistance features and an optional set of carbon fiber wheels that Maserati claims will reduce the MC20’s unsprung weight by 30kg.

It’s not surprising that Maserati is putting forth so much work to ensure that it competes with the strongest possible product, but what’s really refreshing to see is how adaptable the MC20’s personality is already proving to be. Bring on the all-electric Folgore vehicles!

Frequently asked question

How fast is the Maserati MC20?

The new Maserati MC20 is more than just another gorgeous Italian supercar. Though it is that. With oozingly liquid good looks, 0-60 mph in “less than” 2.9 seconds, and a top speed of “over” 202 mph, it’s checking boxes where you didn’t even know you had boxes

Is the Maserati MC20 a supercar?

Driving on public roads revealed the 2022 Maserati MC20 can easily work as a daily driver. It’s a supercar that’s easy to control and doesn’t beat you up. That’s partly because of the driving modes: Switching from Corsa to Sport or GT will make the MC20 tamer.

Is the Maserati MC20 electric?
While the McLaren and Ferrari V-6s are hybridized, Maserati plans to skip that step and offer the MC20 as a fully electric—its carbon tub is designed to accommodate coupe, convertible, and electric variants. For now, though, the MC20 is pure internal combustion.

What’s the fastest Maserati?

Ghibli and Quattroporte Trofeo can proudly claim to be the fastest Maserati saloons ever, with a top speed of 203 mph (326 km/h). Levante Trofeo’s maximum speed is 188 mph (302 km/h).
